When a wildfire threatens, residents have to make fast – and occasionally heartbreaking – decisions on what to save: family treasures, extra clothes, the family pet. The Petaluma animal rescue center in Sonoma County, California, is one of several nonprofits helping the animals left behind, as well as those people who managed to escape with their pets.
